How my own adventures led me to craft unforgettable journeys for others

About me

 

Hi, Olá, Ciao, I'm Hannah!

 

Travel has been my greatest passion since childhood. Growing up, my parents passed on their love for exploring more of Europe, often on camping trips.

With a family home in Northern Italy, I spent much of my youth discovering Italian culture and language – a connection that later became part of my academic path.

At 18, I began to venture further: an extended stay as an Au Pair in Ireland, my first long-haul trip to Canada, and countless journeys that followed. From Asia to New Zealand, from road trips across Europe to adventures in a camper van – every spare moment and every cent I earned as a project manager in an international company went straight into experiencing the world.

 

In 2019, my husband and I set out on a long-dreamed world trip, only to pause due to the pandemic. This was actually a difficult time for me: To understand that sometimes it's not about what I want but to be forced to take a step back.

But this pause in traveling led to one of the best moments in my life: We extended our family to three 🙂 . When our daughter was born, we embraced a new adventure: two years of traveling as a young family through France, Spain, Portugal, and Italy in our camper. This time on the road, living slow travel to its fullest, made one thing clear – I wanted to create a way to share this way of exploring with others.

 

Having lived and worked in Italy and Portugal, alongside extensive travel, has deepened my passion for languages. Personal consultations and communication are available in German, English, Italian, French, and Portuguese. This also enables me to uncover local experiences beyond the usual international routes.

 

My background in project management helps me structure complex plans, while my personal journeys taught me what really matters when traveling: finding a rhythm that respects the needs of everyone, immersing in local culture, and creating unforgettable memories.

Founding travel com (c)alma is my way of turning this lifelong passion into a service – helping others discover the beauty of Portugal and Italy with the same depth, respect, and joy that shaped my own journeys. As the company as well as my home base is Southern Portugal, I get to experience a lot of the destinations on a daily base, always happy to venture further to share even more incredible experiences.

The com (c)alma experience

 

The name travel com (c)alma carries a double meaning: com alma – “with soul” in Portuguese – and calma – “calm.” Because traveling should be soulful and memorable, yet never rushed.

 

Too often, vacations begin with stress: hours of research, endless options, the pressure to fit everyone’s wishes into a limited amount of time. You want to wander along the most beautiful trails, but still end the day with a great meal. You’d love a surf camp for the kids, while someone else dreams of birdwatching or a culinary road trip through Southern Italy's Mezzogiorno.

The ideas are endless – the time to plan them, not so much.
